Person County Signs

For your enjoyment are some interesting road signs from the Triangle's northern outpost in Person County. During the winter months, this place is referred to as the "Snow Capital of the Triangle," because TV news crews have a tendency to converge here whenever the weather forecast calls for any of the white stuff to come our way. Still, this area is surrounded by rolling hills of forests and farmlands, yet it provides its citizens with a wealth of opportunities while continuing to maintain a small-town feel.

Sign Location Description
Farmer's Market sign [NEW] Madison Blvd. (US 501) @ Reams Ave., Roxboro [Map] The blank space may have been used to notify patrons the day and time this event would normally take place. Aside from that, the sign does look a little off-balanced and somewhat obscure.
Speed Limit with Dead End sign Long Ave. @ Crestwood Dr., Roxboro [Map] Talk about killing two birds with one stone. Even though this sign does serve a dual purpose for this cul-de-sac neighborhood, it is quite rare for a non-offical sign to be placed on a city street.
Keep Off Grass sign Durham Rd. (US 501) @ Helena-Moriah Rd., Timberlake [Map] Even if you have to pull your vehicle off to the side of the road, chances are you'll still have a grassy patch of land to greet you. Why such a sign would be on a right-of-way is anyone's guess.
Kirby Auditorium sign Main St. @ Lamar St., Roxboro [Map] This sign leads what used to be the town's only movie theater, before it shut down and was later reconfigured for other uses. Signs like these are fairly common all over the county, especially the use of varying font sizes to make them look more appealing.
Low Clearance Detour sign Old Durham Rd. @ Somerset Church Rd., Roxboro [Map] Due to a very narrow railroad tressle, large trucks who enter town via US 158 West have to traverse a lengthy detour route before reaching US 501 and the many businesses that line its path.
Old Dead End sign Longwood Terrace @ Leasburg Rd. (US 158), Roxboro [Map] This sign appears to be no worse for the wear, yet still highly functional nevertheless.
Red Emergency sign Durham Rd. (US 501) @ Garrett St., adjacent to Wal*Mart Supercenter; Roxboro [Map] This overhead signage was once located in front of Roxboro Fire Station #2, situated next to the WMS. Even though the overhead was very eye-catching, it eventually disappeared over time only to be replaced by a more nondescript signage.
